Deion Sanders advises Kyler Murray to choose baseball

Representatives of the Oakland Athletics and Major League Baseball met Sunday with Heisman Trophy victor Kyler Murray, a day before the Oklahoma quarterback's deadline to enter the NFL draft, a person with direct knowledge of the session said. Following his only season as an Aggie, Sternberger announced his decision to declare for the draft on January 1, just one day after A&M defeated North Carolina State in the 2018 TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. What's next for the Murray is not yet known.

The Oakland Athletics, who drafted him ninth overall last summer, are talking to Murray about committing to baseball full time and not going to the NFL.

Winning the Heisman, Murray threw for 4,361 passing yards, 1,001 rushing yards, and 43 touchdowns last season.

I have declared for the NFL Draft. Listed at 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, Murray would be a small quarterback in the National Football League by any standard.

"I think he can do whatever he wants to do", Sanders said.

For the Detroit Lions, Murray opting to at least test the National Football League waters is a good thing.

Maurizio Sarri has said he did not watch a single World Cup match this summer because he does not believe there is anything to learn from worldwide football.

Deion Sanders has some advice for Kyler Murray.

"We're big Oklahoma fans right now for sure", Melvin said at the winter meetings. "When you're a quarterback, you have to put in hours and hours of study running an offence". I can continue to play at both, shows kids that, hey.

The record books are loaded with dual threat prospects, who were forced to make choices between baseball and football, ranging from such players as John Elway.

Murray is basically an extreme version of those overachieving people at school who were good at every sport they played.

PASSAN:.Be back in spring training and a full-time baseball player the next year. So there's certainly some different dynamics with it. In fact, that is quite often the case with quarterbacks. "But he athletically is so gifted and can transition between the two". Oakland A's position players report to spring training on February 18, so the A's have until then to try to win over Murray. If Murray wanted to participate in the combine, the A's would need to allow it and it would need to be reflected on his contract. As a result, he will enter the 2019 NFL Draft.

Instead, Murray transferred to Oklahoma from the Aggies after his freshman season, redshirting in 2016 so he could play in 2017, where he served as a backup to that season's Heisman victor, Baker Mayfield. After sitting out a year due to NCAA transfer rules, he became the backup to Baker Mayfield during his 2017 Heisman campaign season. And if Washington's brass falls in love with him, then they absolutely should consider doing what is needed to get Murray in Washington. A's manager Bob Melvin, executive Billy Beane and general manager David Forst closely followed Oklahoma football this season as the Sooners reached the College Football Playoff, losing to Alabama in a semifinal. Even if (barring an injury) Murray does flame out in football, he can still make a career switch to baseball at the young age of 25 or 26. Major League Baseball also sent marketing executives to meet with him to present information about Murray's off-field earning potential.
