Jon Jay, White Sox Agree On 1-Year Deal

The White Sox, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia Phillies are the three known teams involved in a bidding war for the 26-year-old free agent, but there may be an unknown club in the mix, sources told Levine. The White Sox, Yankees and Phillies have all been linked to Machado. In order to seduce Machado to come to the Windy City, the South Siders have signed first baseman Yonder Alonso, Machado's brother-in-law, and outfielder Jon Jay, one of Machado's best friends.

This Saturday, Philadelphia Phillies officials will travel 2,400 westward to Las Vegas, Nevada to meet with Bryce Harper and his agent, Scott Boras.

Free agency has ground to a halt, including for top talents like Bryce Harper and Manny Machado.

Though it was reported earlier this week that the Yankees had not yet made an offer to Machado, Levine says all three teams have - and that a fourth team could be in on the action, too.

We might soon find out, if the next seven days truly do provide Machado's decision. He also noted that Machado is receiving offers between $25 and $28 million annually.
