Netflix is in development on a Resident Evil series! It is now searching for a showrunner to lead the adaptation. Deadline Hollywood is now reporting the long-running survival horror series is set to become a Netflix Original television series.
The search is now under way for a showrunner, with the show reportedly set to expand the existing mythology from the film series.
This includes the Resident Evil 2 Hunk scenario: The 4th Survivor.
The show will also reportedly keep the same general premise as the film series, exploring the "dark inner workings" of the Umbrella Corporation.
Capcom's Resident Evil franchise has seemingly peaked, with countless games and an entire run of movies released over the past three decades.

Would you be open to the idea of a Resident Evil TV series?
We've heard whisperings of a reboot that'll take its cues from Resident Evil 7, the terrifying 2017 entry in the game franchise, and Variety reported in December that Constantin Film hired Johannes Roberts to direct.
While the six movies were never domestic blockbusters, they always fared well at the global box office.
Of course, when the first RE2 debuted on PlayStation two decades ago, it went, um, viral, becoming one of the most critically lauded and best-selling video games of the '90s, if not all time. But after earning a total of $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office, they're the most successful series of movies based on a video game to date.
