Blake writes, "To sum up: Giuliani said on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday that the conversations "went on throughout 2016.' He later seemed to confirm to the New York Times that they lasted till late 2016, even as Trump was securing the presidency".
The piece, authored by investigative reporters Anthony Cormier and Jason Leopold, cites two law enforcement officials who said Michael Cohen acknowledged to Special Counsel Mueller's office that Trump told him to lie to Congress about a potential real estate deal in Moscow.
Rudy Giuliani in a new interview denied a BuzzFeed report that President Trump directed his former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen to lie to Congress, claiming he had listened to audiotapes - but nearly in the same breath contradicted himself and said they didn't exist.
While his company secretly pursued a lucrative business deal in Moscow, Trump also publicly floated the possibility of lifting United States sanctions against Russian Federation.
When Cohen pleaded guilty to a charge from Mueller's office in November, he said had he lied about the duration of the proposed Moscow project.
Giuliani also told the New York Times on Sunday that he was basing this information on conversations he had with the president and said the discussions were ongoing throughout the entire election.

The project and the length of discussions around have been subject to a changing narrative and is a key part of the legal saga facing Cohen, Trump's former attorney.
Trump's discussions with Cohen about the Moscow project - regardless of when they ended - happened while Trump cozied up to Russian Federation with his rhetoric on the campaign trail. "What matters is, Was there an intent to give something, namely relief from sanctions, in exchange for getting a Trump Tower Moscow?" she continued.
"I did not say that", Giuliani told Chotiner.
Giuliani said Monday in a three-sentence statement that his comments "did not represent the actual timing or circumstances of any discussions". But the President's recollection of it is that the - the thing had petered out quite a bit.
'I'm not going to talk about my sources, ' Cormier said.
"Because I have been through all the tapes, I have been through all the texts, I have been through all the emails, and I knew none existed", he said. "I don't know if they made it up".
