Aurora shooting victims ranged from intern to plant manager

Friday afternoon, a man opened fire at an Aurora manufacturing company where he worked.

Police named the five victims of a shooting at a manufacturing company in Aurora, Illinois, Saturday after a man opened fire during a meeting Friday.

Martin was issued an Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification Card in January 2014.

She says he bought the Smith and Wesson.40-caliber handgun on March 11, 2014, and that his 1995 felony conviction for aggravated assault in MS wasn't flagged until he applied for a concealed carry permit five days later. During the fingerprinting and background process, Martin's conviction for aggravated assault in MS in 1995, in which he served 2 1/2 years in prison, was discovered and his concealed carry application was denied.

Investigators have said little else that would explain the rampage, including why Martin was sacked, whether the victims were his co-workers or supervisors, or if he was already carrying the gun at the time of his termination. Wehner was expected to graduate in May with a degree in human resource management.

Zanis said he'd like to make crosses with the victims' names and put them up near Henry Pratt Co.

Ziman was unable to explain why the felony conviction did not prevent Martin from obtaining a FOI card in the first place, merely saying it was possible that it would not have been discovered until the more rigorous CCW check.

A reporter asked the following question: "Does the series of events relating to the gun license and the revocation of his FOID card mean that he was in illegal possession of that gun?" "I don't know exactly what was communicated to him".

Martin's neighbors, who lived in an apartment in Aurora, described him as a quiet man whom they often saw operating a remote control auto and a drone.

Scott Hall, president and CEO of Mueller Water Products Inc, which owns Henry Pratt in Aurora, Illinois, told a news conference Saturday that Gary Martin was being fired from his job when he started shooting and killed five co-workers including the human resources manager, plant manager and an intern. "I heard more shots, and we just left the building", Mr Probst said.

The RBI, however, said that "some uncertainties warrant careful monitoring", flagging seven key issues. It also stayed below RBI's inflation target of 4 per cent for five consecutive months.

A woman who identified herself as Martin's mother told the Sun-Times on Friday that he was "way too stressed out" after being laid off about two weeks ago.

In addition to the five employees killed, a sixth worker was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Ziman said that Martin shot at the person who was firing him and others in the meeting before moving outside the room.

A vigil for the victims, including a university student on his first day as an intern and a longtime plant manager, was held Sunday outside the Henry Pratt Aurora, about 40 miles (65 kilometres) west of Chicago. A sixth was wounded, as were several police officers.

According to police, Martin was convicted of a felony for aggravated assault in MS in 1995.

Five officers were also wounded at the scene Ziman told reporters.

The chief said records indicate such a letter was sent, and "we're looking into whether we followed up on that". More first responders entered the building with two missions - one group searched for Martin, while the other tried to find victims, she said.

Police officers armed with rifles gather at the scene where an active shooter was reported in Aurora, Ill., on February 15, 2019. Martin hid inside the warehouse and police found him about an hour later.

Like in numerous country's mass shootings, Friday's attack was carried out by a man with a violent criminal history who was armed with a gun he wasn't supposed to have.
