Donald Trump Denies Calling Tim Cook 'Tim Apple', Despite It Being Televised

But Trump is adamant he didn't do it - even though it was televised and we all saw him do it. By adding a hyphen between Tim and Apple, the transcript makes it appear as though the president was calling Cook by his first name and then stating the name of the company he works for.

Trump made the gaffe during an American Workforce Policy Advisory Board Meeting at the White House as Cook and the president's daughter Ivanka Trump were seated next to him.

On Monday morning, Trump said he combined Cook's and the company's name together because it was faster. "The Fake News was disparagingly all over this, & it became yet another bad Trump story!" the president said.

"I quickly referred to Tim + Apple as Tim/Apple as an easy way to save time & words", Mr Trump explained on his Twitter feed.

Meanwhile, world champion Lewis Hamilton was only ninth fastest in his Mercedes with a best lap of 1min 18.943sec after 102 laps. The Frenchman, who was promoted from feeder team Toro Rosso, lost control on curve Nine and hit the protective barrier.

He said the "fake news" media just reported it as "Tim Apple". I mean, you've really put a big investment into the country.

Donors attending an event at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Friday night reportedly described the president's claim as one of his "weirdest lies ever", according to Axios writer Johnathan Swan. "We appreciate it very much, Tim Apple", Mr. Trump said.

Cook noticed it, too, humorously changing his name on Twitter to "Tim ".

Sat by the side of Tim Cook and addressing the media (who were obviously filming the whole thing), Trump said: "We're going to be opening up the labour forces because we have to". Last year, he had called Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson "Marillyn Lockheed".
