Other names mentioned as possible replacements for Walton include the Clippers' Doc Rivers and Jason Kidd.
LeBron James' season is done.
"I just view it as outside noise unless someone from within tells me that that happened", Walton continued.
However, neither of those two names actually scream ideal fits for the Lakers if they elect to hire a new head coach.
Perhaps the strangest subplot about this Lakers season though, has been the rumors surrounding the head coaching position. Think about it, the Lakers were a legitimate playoff team until pretty much everyone got hurt. "They have a process". But I think it takes time.
Transfer: Rooney sends strong message to Paul Pogba
These comments suggest that Pogba wants everyone to know that, and he is starting to ramp up the pressure from his side of things. Meanwhile, the former Juventus star has scored nine goals and bagged seven assists in 17 appearances under Solskjaer.
LeBron James missed 17 games after getting hurt on Christmas Day, Lonzo Ball hasn't played since January 19, Kyle Kuzma missed a chunk of games and Brandon Ingram who started heating up when James returned hasn't played since the beginning of March.
While Walton has been unlucky with injuries, the results this season have fallen far below expectations. If the Lakers get their way, James won't be the only star in the Purple and Gold for much longer.
If all goes according to plan, however, Lue and James could be working together once again to try to make up for James' disastrous first season in L.A.
The first year of LeBron in L.A.is slowly dragging to its death, but it now has a fitting tagline.
With a number of contracts due to expire in the summer, the Lakers will in all likelihood look very different next season, probably beginning with the man in charge.
Jason Kidd will not turn down the Lakers if they ask him to replace Luke Walton next season.
