Winter weather advisory in effect at 5 pm Tuesday

A mix of snow and rain is expected to fall before it quickly transitions to completely snow Sunday morning. Monday morning's commute will likely be a slow one. An estimated 3-5 inches of snow accumulation is possible, with a low temperature around 20 degrees and wind gusts of up to 29 miles per hour.

After a few sprinkles of freezing rain this morning, it has been largely a mostly cloudy day. I expect a good deal of sunshine and temperatures to reach the upper 30s and lower 40s, causing quite a bit of melting on any southerly facing surfaces.

The best chance for everyone to see some light, fluffy snow is now looking to be Saturday evening through Sunday morning.

LOOKING AHEAD: With all of this I think it's fair to say March is coming in like a lion!

It is a quick moving system, so we think we will stay under a foot of snow across the area. It looks to bring some light snow and rain starting around 6 P.M. Many see snow, but the rain could sneak in for southeast parts of the region.

Two Winter storms through Monday will bring snow to the region. We'll be watching this system as it gets closer.

Bitter arctic air moves in early next week. Vallee expected a second snowstorm to begin Sunday morning and continue overnight into Monday morning. Temperatures start are near freezing during the afternoon. Wind chills will be in the teens and 20s. The cold isn't going anywhere anytime soon! Bitterly cold air along with the wind will result in risky wind chills as low as -20.
