Google I/O 2019 starts today: Here’s how to watch livestream

The same leak also reiterates some key specifications of the XL model.

As per leaks, The Pixel 3a and 3a XL are expected to launch with a 5.6-inch and 6-inch FHD+ OLED screen respectively. These phones both have 4GB of RAM just like the Pixel 3 and 3 XL.

Attendees, along with tech fans at home watching the livestream, will be closely following the conference's keynote presentation, when Google CEO Sundar Pichai and top executives announce new software updates and products.

There's no IP68 rating for water and dust resistance to be found either, and Google has traded the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 for a mid-range Snapdragon 670. The smaller device has a 3,000mAh battery and weighs 147gr., while the XL is powered by a 3,700mAh battery and weighs 167gr. It is also known that these phones are going to be toned down versions of the original Pixel 3 phones. The Pixel 3a will also have stereo speakers, a fingerprint scanner on the back, and support for Active Edge.

Google might also introduce a new "smart display", a type of connected screen compatible with Google Assistant and able to respond to voice commands, which might be larger than its current Home Hub, and double as a home alarm system.

Google set to enter midrange smartphone market with cheaper Pixel phone
A prototype of the Google Pixel 3a was recently discovered on Geekbench and it detailed several key details of the upcoming handset.

Last week, Porat suggested the Pixel phones didn't perform well in the first quarter. Of course, there is no secondary wide camera like on the Pixel 3 and 3 XL. On the software side, Pixel owners will get the new privacy features in Android Q this summer.

The cheaper Pixel devices have been in the works for months and the launch wasn't timed to coincide with Porat's comments, according to Google. In a new development, we have some news about one of the most critical aspect of any Pixel phone out there - the rear camera.

Google is rumored to launch these two mid-range phones, little siblings to the flagship Pixel 3 series they launched late previous year. It will have the Always-on Display and Always-listening features. If you want to pull the trigger, you can order yours starting today either from your carrier or from Google. However, even before the launch, the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have gone through tons of leaks and rumours, and we now know quite a few things about these devices. The devices will be available in three colors: black, white, and a light purple tone. Google also points out that all your photos are backed up for free and without limit-something Apple can't say.

Google Pixel 3a XL is available to order online now, and will start to appear on high street shelves from tomorrow, May 8, 2019.
