Pelosi says no impeachment for now, Trump furious

What started as a challenging day for Pelosi as she tries to tamp down growing calls for an impeachment inquiry swiftly turned, with the attention going back on the president.
The front of the Rose Garden podium was decorated with a sign titled "Mueller Investigation By the Numbers", declaring that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had found "NO collusion" and "NO obstruction".
The president, making his announcement from the Roosevelt Room, went from discussing the new aid his administration is offering to farmers due to the ongoing trade war with China, to discussing the U.S. -Mexico-Canada Agreement, which he claims Pelosi can not understand.
Pelosi and Schumer meanwhile offered their own scathing descriptions of Wednesday's heated scene.
An infrastructure plan appeared to be the best way for the president and Democrats to enact substantive legislation that they could take credit for on the 2020 campaign trail. I'd be really good at that - that's what I do. Trump declared he would not work with them on infrastructure after all until they shut down their "phony investigations" and strode out to fill the world in on the encounter at a Rose Garden press conference.
As rank-and-file Democrats call for Mr Trump's impeachment, the House speaker continued to warned against such a move, arguing that the president was goading her party to attempt to remove him from office.
The lawyers for the House Financial Services and Intelligence committees say they need access to documents from the banks to investigate possible "foreign influence in the U.S. political process" and money laundering.

President Donald Trump says he's "very surprised" that the Senate Intelligence Committee has subpoenaed his eldest son. Burr and Warner have often won praise from the panel's members, and also from McConnell, throughout the probe.
Trump called Mueller's Russian Federation probe "a takedown attempt at the President of the United States".
"It was a total awful thing that happened to our country, it hurt us in so many ways", Trump added.
"She said ... 'I talk to the president, I don't talk to staff, '" Conway said.
The meeting had been set weeks ago, after Trump and the Democratic leaders agreed to talk further about a possible $2 trillion infrastructure proposal.
In a series of tweets Thursday, the president said he was extremely calm during a meeting Wednesday with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer.
Top advisor Kellyanne Conway went on Trump-friendly television network Fox News to defend her boss today, saying that "he never actually raised his voice". Trump has repeatedly said he and his advisers do not need to answer lawmakers' requests for information.
"It may take us to a place that is unavoidable in terms of impeachment or not, but we're not at that place", she said.
"You can't do it [a meeting about infrastructure] under these circumstances", Trump said, clearly angry with Pelosi's behavior. The Republican Senate is where House Democratic bills go to die.
A freshman Democratic congresswoman, Katie Hill, told the Associated Press after Wednesday's meeting that impeachment was "becoming an inevitability" with every act of defiance from the president.
