Ronaldo vehemently denied the allegations, with Juventus coming under fire for their decision to stand by him while investigations were ongoing, but it can now be put to bed with the Clark County district attorney releasing a statement on their decision not to prosecute on the basis of insufficient evidence.
The Portuguese forward was accused of assaulting American model Kathryn Mayorga in a Las Vegas hotel room in June 2009.
Ms Mayorga's decision to proceed with legal action comes after she signed a non-disclosure agreement in 2010, where she also accepted a £268,000 payment from Ronaldo. For the next eight years, law enforcement heard nothing more from V regarding the crime or the perpetrator.
Though she said she knew who had assaulted her, she refused to name her assailant.
