Barcelona sign Junior Firpo from Real Betis

In joining the champions, he becomes Barcelona's fifth signing of the summer alongside Antoine Girezmann, Frenkie de Jong, Neto and fellow full back Emerson.

The Spain u21 worldwide will sign a five-year deal with the LaLiga giants from fellow LaLiga outfit Real Betis.

Firpo will provide a backup to regular starter Jordi Alba, who did not have any direct competition last season. Betis were always willing to sell for less than the player's €40m release clause and the two clubs finally agreed on a price on Saturday.

Barcelona have signed Spain Under-21 left-back Junior Firpo on a five-year contract from Real Betis for a fee which could rise to £27.5m.

Apple Expected to Launch 3 New iPhones With 5G Compatibility Next Year
The good news is Apple has several ways it can still make money from the 900 million iPhones in use today. Apple's current lineup has two OLED models (iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max) and one LCD model (iPhone XR).

Barca had been keen on Bayern Munich's David Alaba, while Augsburg's Philipp Max was another leading contender. Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Junior moved to Málaga aged six. He was part of the squad that won the U21 European Championship in 2019, and, as a key player, contested three games in the tournament.

Barcelona witnessed Firpo's ability to join the attack when he scored the opening goal of a 4-3 win by Betis at Camp Nou in November, the only home loss suffered by Lionel Messi's side in the league last season.

He could make his Barca debut in Miami on Wednesday when Valverde's side face Napoli at the Hard Rock Stadium.
