There has been accusations of hypocrisy direction at the royal couple, who have spoken out about the need for climate action.
The socially conscious royals have recently taken mini-breaks to Nice, France, and the island of Ibiza, racking up a number of private flights in less than two weeks.
"During my time at the palace most of the flights we took were commercial on British Airways, the national carrier", Wharfe told Vanity Fair.
But although the couple received many positive messages in response, some were critical, saying: "Doing your bit of good for the environment this week..." and "Stop flying private jets!" Perks of the airline include custom dining menus and the option of having pets in the cabin.
In recent days, blurred images snapped of the family disembarking a private aircraft were widely circulated online as Britain's Sun newspaper ran a story with the headline: "DUMBO JET: Eco-warriors' Meghan Markle and Prince Harry fly on private jet again to France after gas-guzzling Ibiza trip".
Just a couple weeks ago Harry stressed the importance of tackling climate change at a Google summit in Sicily, Italy after he attended a three-day event to address a crowd of 200 A-listers and millionaires.
Oil rises on European inventories drop and expected OPEC cuts
That came after a surprise increase in USA stockpiles, the first gain in eight weeks, helped push down prices on Wednesday. OPEC's room for maneuver may also be constrained by the USA oil industry.
On several occasions, he lectured average citizens about lowering their carbon footprints. Wearing a cream hat and a white top, the duchess was clutching her three-month-old son in her arms.
Teresa Pearce, Labour MP for Erith and Thamesmead, said, "Given the position they have taken publicly about being responsible on climate change, this does seem an anomaly, which they should look at".
The short trip to Nice came shortly after Harry and Meghan returned to the United Kingdom by private jet after a six-night break in Ibiza.
Ken Wharfe, a former royal protection officer, added, "Frankly, it's hypocritical".
Piers Morgan, perhaps the U.K.'s most influential and prominent journalist, has also been vocal in calling out Markle. The queen typically has royal family members throughout the summer to keep her company during her summer vacation in Scotland. This royal privilege is also costing taxpayers money, according to other critics.
