Reported on multiple news sources, a portion of the Hard Rock Cafe in New Orleans collapsed. City officials say 18 people were transported to local hospitals and one refused treatment. According to local media, Florida-based Hard Rock International's plans to construct the 17-storey building with hotel rooms and condos were revealed in February 2018 after years of controversy.
"It's a very unsafe situation", Fire Superintendent Timothy McConnell said at a press conference, noting that another collapse is possible. An unsupported crane listed away from the building site.
News outlets report construction workers ran to safety as the Hard Rock Hotel, which was under construction, came crashing down.
