First vaping-related death reported in Alabama, health officials confirm

This drastic and sweeping prohibition against vaping products will have far-reaching economic consequences for many small businesses that make up the bulk of this new and burgeoning industry.
Symptoms of severe vaping-related lung illness include cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fever and fatigue. Nationwide, as of September 24, there have been 805 cases of lung illness reported from 46 states and one USA territory. They suggest refraining from the use of e-cigarettes and vape products in an effort to avoid illness. There have been 13 deaths across 11 states. Right now, we know it's a man from East Alabama, but the state is looking at more than a dozen cases of illness.
About 69% of patients are male. The median age of cases is 23 years, with about 62 percent of patients between the ages of 18 and 34, according to the CDC. "The last 20 percent are between the ages of 20 and 39". In the CDC's national-level report, data about substances used in these products were self-reported by 514 patients. The CDC recommends on the basis of these reports that individuals should abstain from using e-cigarettes especially those that contain THC.
Three cases are identified as probable, which means a patient has a respiratory illness and vapes, but it hasn't been determined if the illness is linked to vaping.
