United Kingdom royal couple land in Pakistani capital after storm delay

The British Royal Air Force flight was forced to abort a landing in Islamabad twice and return to Lahore after getting caught in a severe thunderstorms.

The Duke and Duchess later took to the crease at the National Cricket Academy, where they both hit a few runs as they played alongside a host of current and former cricket stars, including current bowling coach Waqar Younis.

At a meeting earlier in Lahore, one of Pakistan's largest cities and its cultural capital, the chief minister of Punjab state Usman Bazdar told the couple their visit "will further strengthen relations between the two countries".

Despite the best efforts of the pilot, the aircraft had to turn back to Lahore on the fourth day of William and Kate's tour of Pakistan. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have not commented on this incident as of press time.

Kate Middleton opened up about her trip to Pakistan with Prince William in her first TV news interview since becoming a royal. They went to the various sections of the hospital and observed the provision of latest facilities for the treatment of the cancer patients.

In an eventful last two days, the royal couple visited the SOS village, National Cricket Academy and Badshahi Mosque.

The Duchess was clad in almost the same ensemble she began the day in, with a color swap: she wore another black and white outfit, this time paired with a lengthy black coat, cream trousers, and black heels.

William, who came to check on travelling media, joked "I was flying!", as he made a reference to his time as an air ambulance pilot.

At a children's home in Lahore and in her first public remarks of the tour, Kate said the couple were "moved and touched" by their experiences in the country.
