Overwatch 2, the next installment of the developer's hugely popular first person hero shooter, will build upon the original's game foundation of player versus player (PvP) competition, but will also include a new 6v6 PvP mode, along with "a tone of PvE content". The mobile game was announced at last year's Blizzcon and was mostly met with disappointment as fans were hoping for Diablo 4 news. As for the maps, they've confirmed the locations of Gothenburg, Toronto, Monte Carlo, and Rio de Janeiro.
Ultimate Abilities have also been added and function as follows: "all classes gain charge for their chosen Ultimate by using basic attacks". He says he believes that all heroes are now well balanced, and thinks that the key to having consistent and meaningful meta changes is adding new game modes, different map types and pushing systems that encourage new strategies.
With the introduction of the story mode, Overwatch 2 will also have a heavy focus on player vs. enemy content while keeping the same PvP features in competitive modes. Environments will be bigger and more dynamic than ever before, and maps will get "additional in-game storytelling events", whatever that means.
But if you don't buy Overwatch 2, you won't be left out.

And we know it's kind of their "thing".
So if Overwatch 2 is coming, we can probably expect the first release news to be revealed today.
The cinematic shows Tracer, Mei, and Winston in Paris, fighting against a large group of rebellious omnics. Naturally we're going to have a lot of in-depth coverage out of the event, so keep your eyes glued here, but before then, in case you missed it, here's Blizzard's official line: An ancient evil threatens to engulf Sanctuary in darkness, and new heroes have been called upon to face challenges the world has never seen before. However, there will be plenty of new and fresh content.
"The opening ceremony will be simulcast on screens throughout the convention centre as well, so you're sure to find a great seat wherever you are".
While unlocked cosmetics will carry over into the sequel, newness will flow back into the first game too. "Check out the Virtual Ticket to get a closer look at this year's loot".
