Tua Tagovailoa not spotted during practice Wednesday

Tagovailoa was not visible during a shortened open media viewing period, though he managed to participate in some activities before the media's arrival and/or after they exited the team's indoor practice facility earlier Wednesday.

Coach Nick Saban said the surgery was successful, but he said Tagovailoa's timeline for returning to the field is unclear.

Speaking at an event in Birmingham, Saban told reporters that he has been pleased with Tagovailoa's progress since having surgery on October 20 to recover from a high-ankle sprain in his right foot.

While they have had so much success promoting from within it might be time to bring in a new voice as coach, former All Black Justin Marshall has said.

"Tua took some snaps today in practice and did a few things on air, was not involved in any team situations", Saban said of the junior. Is it fair to say I don't know? "So that's always a good sign".

He returned in time to play in the College Football Playoffs against Oklahoma, but this would be a quicker comeback. Saban says it didn't initially seem like a serious injury and Forristall was able to return to the game. It's great for recruiting but I don't think it means a hill of beans. "It's wonderful to me all the things they can do in medicine now".

Saban wouldn't set a percentage on how healthy Tagovailoa would have to be in order to play against LSU. Saban added that he didn't have a cutoff date in mind as to when he would make a decision about Tagovailoa's availability for LSU. The Crimson Tide don't have a game on Saturday, as they are on a bye, meaning the quarterback has two weeks to continue rehabbing, get healthy and potentially play against LSU.
