Scaloni Hopes To Have Messi Beyond 2020

The Socceroos will tackle global superstar Lionel Messi and Argentina at next year's Copa America after they were drawn alongside the co-hosts.

Argentina will play the 2020 Copa America opener on June 12 at home against Chile - a team The Albicelestes defeated 2-1 to claim third position in 2019 Copa America.

Argentina's final group match will be against Bolivia on June 30 at La Plata stadium.

This will be the fourth Copa America in six years but is slated to be the last one until 2024 as organisers move to a regular quadrennial format.

The Socceroos have lost to the Argentines on five other occasions - most recently in a 2007 friendly - and drawn once.

Argentina will open next year's tournament against Chile at El Monumental on 12 June, it was revealed on Tuesday.

The Socceroos have won twice against Paraguay but have never defeated Chile, while their fixture with Bolivia will be the first between the two nations in a men's worldwide.

While the draw took place on Tuesday, the nations already knew nearly all of their opponents with teams split into zones for next year's tournament in Argentina and Colombia.

Argentina last won the Copa America in 1993 and the nation is desperate to finally get their hands on the trophy once again. Eight teams, or the top four from each group, make it through to the quarterfinals.

Group B will be hosted by Colombia and is headlined by holders Brazil, alongside Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru and second invited participants Qatar.
