Cory Booker out of race for Democratic nomination

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) announced Monday the end to his 2020 presidential campaign in a statement posted to Twitter.

In the fourth quarter of a year ago, Booker's campaign revealed that it raised $6.6 million. Millions more were likely spent in the following months, but the full amount will not be publicized until later in January.

"We've reached the point where we need more money to scale up and continue building a campaign that can win - money that is harder to raise having been blocked from the next debate stage and with urgent business of impeachment rightly keeping him in Washington". In 2002, a documentary crew followed his upstart run for mayor of Newark, New Jersey.

And while candidates like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren relied on well-developed networks of small-dollar donors, Booker hadn't raised money for a race since 2014 and therefore trailed in assembling such a list of people willing to give over and over again.

Stuck in single digits in polls and trailing most of his Democratic rivals in fundraising, the New Jersey senator said he couldn't compete. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), former technology executive Andrew Yang and investor Tom Steyer participate in a Democratic presidential primary debate, in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 20, 2019. He's always been seen as a progressive Democrat in the Senate, pushing for criminal justice reform and marijuana legalization.

"You made our politics better just by running", Biden said.

Booker's early and intense focus on organizing the state - which he's now visited four times - is the result of his campaign's calculation that in-person campaigning and field organization are his strengths, rather than the national-media-narrative game.

Ozil can’t rescue Arsenal on his own: Arteta
Inter Milan have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang , according to the Mirror . Upamecano has 18 months left on his current deal and Arsenal think they could snap up the Frenchman for just £40m.

Booker's problem may be that he's too well known by political journalists to be exciting, but too little known by most voters to be a household name.
Despite a handful of candidates already campaigning for the seat, Booker is expected to have an easy path to victory.

Early on, the crowded Democratic field was praised for being the most diverse in history.

In some respect, the Booker candidacy represented a Catch-22 in that he could never gain enough support to develop the kind of buzz that might have lifted him into the top tier of candidates.

Donald Trump mocked him moments later.

Booker did not qualify for the December debate, and also failed to qualify for the debate in Iowa on Tuesday.

In his email to supporters, Booker pledged to do "everything in my power to elect the eventual Democratic nominee for president", though his campaign says he has no immediate plans to endorse a candidate in the primary. Booker won that office in a landslide four years later, and was urged by Democrats to run for higher office, which he did by winning a special Senate election in 2013.
