Tiger Woods confirms Farmers Insurance Open will begin his 2020 tournament schedule

Woods announced today his first two tournaments of the 2020 season.

Tiger Woods will kick off his 2020 PGA Tour season at Torrey Pines and can also be seen at the Genesis Invitational. Woods won the Farmers Insurance Open in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2013, and earned his 14th major championship victory in a 19-hole playoff at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in 2008.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will both make their first competitive appearances of the year at the Farmers Insurance Open later this month. Beginning his 2020 campaign at Torrey Pines, he'll be chasing the record in a tournament he has won seven times and on a golf course where he owns eight professional wins. The 44-year-old also confirmed that he would be in the field for the Genesis Invitational in February.

The tournament begins January 23 at Torrey Pines.

Spain improved to 2-0 in Perth as Rafael Nadal breezed in a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Pablo Cuevas to pace a 3-0 win over Uruguay . He is a great fighter and a great friend of mine, so I wish him all the best.

"It's an honor for us to be in the same category as Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer", Woods said of The Genesis Invitational's new status via a press release.

His last Tour event was the Zozo Championship in Japan, where he tied Sam Snead for the all-time record with 82 wins.

"Those are two legends of the game". Incredibly, Woods has gone 0-for-13 at Riviera, where he made his PGA Tour debut back in 1992. "On top of that, to be able to host the tournament each and every year at Riviera, where it all started for me, it's come full circle".
