BTS Cancels Concert in South Korea Due to Coronavirus Outbreak: ARMY Reacts

With 2,337 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths as of Friday evening (Hong Kong time), South Korea is now the second most heavily infected country in the world outside mainland China.

The boy band was expected to launch their "Map of the Soul" world tour at their hometown venue, Seoul's Olympic Stadium, for four dates in April - not anymore.

The label said reserved tickets will be refunded in full.

"Plans for "Map of the Soul Tour - Seoul" included the involvement of a number of global production companies and a large group of expert worldwide crew, with over 200,000 concertgoers expected to attend", the statement said.

Amid heightened concerns over the global spread of a highly contagious coronavirus, BTS canceled its Seoul concert, which was to be held in April.

"It is unavoidable that the concert must be cancelled without further delay", a representative from BTS' agency, Big Hit Entertainment, said in a statement.

It was impossible to predict the scale of the outbreak for the concert dates, the band's agents, Big Hit Entertainment, said.

BTS has canceled its Seoul concerts amid growing fears over the coronavirus outbreak.

Green Day announced on Twitter on Thursday that they'd made the decision to reschedule several performances set for South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Japan in March.

The cancellation comes after Big Hit chose JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N), NH Investment & Securities Co Ltd (005940.KS) and others to handle its initial public offering (IPO), according to media reports.

The early April dates were already removed from the tour website, with the first listed dates in Santa Clara, California at Levi Stadium, April 25 and 26.
