US Orders 14-Day Quarantine for 195 Evacuees from Virus-Hit Wuhan

Azar said the president took "decisive action" to minimize the spread of the virus in the US and that the "prudent, targeted and temporary" actions will reduce pressure on public health officials screening incoming travelers and ensure that resources are focused on the health and safety of Americans.
China's government criticised the measure, which it said contradicted the World Health Organization's appeal to avoid travel bans, and slammed "unfriendly comments" made by the USA that Beijing was failing to cooperate.
Meanwhile, South Korea and India flew hundreds of their citizens out of Wuhan, the city at the center of an area where some 50 million people are prevented from leaving in a sweeping anti-virus effort.
China has said it will send charter planes to bring back Hubei residents who are overseas "as soon as possible".
Accelerating spread: There are more than 140 cases confirmed outside of China across almost 20 countries and territories, spanning North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The sixth, a man from Chicago, Illinois, was the first case of human-to-human transmission.
So far, there are 12 cases of human-to-human transmission outside China, and Redfield said they are most concerned with "expansion of sustained community human-to-human transmission", such as the type occurring inside China.
Exceptions will be made for immediate family members of American citizens and permanent residents.
Sri Lanka has confirmed one case - a 43-year-old Chinese tourist from Hubei province. The WHO has said it does not recommend that countries initiate any travel or trade restrictions with China. United States airlines have suspended flights to and from the country.
As of Friday, the virus had infected around 10,000 people around the world.

Apple on Saturday became the latest company to announce the closure of its stores in mainland China to prevent the spread of the virus, with the measure set to remain on place until February 9.
The new virus does not appear to be as deadly as SARS, but there have been more cases overall.
More than 300 Indians arrived in Delhi on Saturday after they were evacuated from Wuhan.
The CDC reported Friday it had received 241 samples for testing. People who have been in Hubei are also being told to work from home.
Basketball games at Miami University in OH were postponed after two students reportedly showed possible symptoms.
CDC officials said then that such a plan posed little or no risk of spreading the virus because individuals incubating the infection before symptoms appear are generally not contagious.
The federal quarantine order is the first since 1963, when a woman returned from a trip to Sweden during a smallpox outbreak and couldn't prove she had been vaccinated.
