Her lawyers served an attorney for Trump with papers on Thursday requesting the President's DNA be obtained on March 2. Her lawyer then had the dress, a black wool, coat-style garment, tested for evidence, which showed DNA being found on the sleeve of at least four people, one of which is a male. In a NY magazine piece in June and a book published in July, she said she and Mr Trump met by chance, chatted and went to the lingerie department for him to pick out a gift for an unidentified woman. Whereas a 1987 photograph reveals them and their then-spouses at a social occasion, Trump dismissed it as a second when he was "standing with my coat on in a line".
She said she happened to run into the real estate mogul at the department store where they chatted and joked together until Trump cornered her in a dressing room, yanked down her tights, and raped her. Carroll said she fought back and eventually got away.
"As a result, we've requested a simple saliva sample from Mr. Trump to test his DNA, and there really is no valid basis for him to object", Kaplan said. She seeks unspecified damages and Trump's retraction of his statements.
Ms Carroll said: 'DNA on the dress could prove that Donald Trump not only knows who I am but that he violently assaulted me... then defamed me by lying about it'.
"In outcome, we've requested a easy saliva pattern from Mr. Trump to check his DNA, and there actually isn't any legitimate foundation for him to object", she mentioned.
Trump's lawyers may nonetheless ask the NY state judge overseeing the defamation case not to require a sample.
