China reports 27 new deaths, Cheapest Increase in coronavirus Instances since January

China had 40 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infections on Marcy 8, the National Health Commission said on March 9, down from 44 cases a day earlier, and the lowest number since the health authority started publishing nationwide data on January 20. The Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan province reported a total of 164 confirmed cases as of Saturday at midnight, including two deaths in Hong Kong and one 1 in Taiwan, the commission noted. The patient was hospitalized in intensive care and required machine-assisted breathing, the statement said.

The number of infections in South Korea passed 7,000 on Saturday - the highest in the world outside China.

The only infections in China beyond the epicentre were imported abroad, including arrivals from Italy and Spain in Beijing, as fears grow about cases being brought into the country from overseas.

Of the 44 new confirmed cases, 41 were discovered in Wuhan-, the provincial capital and epicenter of the outbreak and the remaining three were cases imported from outside mainland China.
