First United State coronavirus death confirmed in King County

The fatality marks the first death associated with the virus in the United States.

State and King County health officials said "new people (have been) identified with the infection, one of whom died".

The death comes after USA health officials have warned that coronavirus now appears to be spreading within the country from person to person independent of any foreign travel. The CDC said in a statement that the patient has tested positive for the virus and is considered a presumptive positive case.

Santa Clara County Public Health Department spokesman Maury Kendall said the person is isolated at home and that other details would be provided later Friday.
