Google is set to release a Pixel 4a replacement soon, but that handset will only ship in the smaller, non-XL size for some reason. The hour long event will include Q&A session with Google's Android VP, Engineering, Dave Burke and Senior Director of Product Management, Stephanie Cuthbertson.
There's no word from Google yet on when the Pixel 4a will be announced, but we may see the Internet search giant unveil the Pixel 4a during the Android 11 Beta Launch Show on June 3. But this year's edition of I/O was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and that's forced Google to come up with an alternate plan for unveiling its Pixel 3a follow-up.
Despite earlier rumors suggesting an earlier launch was on the cards, it appears Google has pushed the Pixel 4a release schedule back a bit to what expected to an early June launch. It happened with the Pixel 3, it happened with the Pixel 4, and it's happening for the mid-range Pixel 4a as well.

After all, it was at Google I/O 2019 where we first clapped eyes on the Pixel 3a. Initially, the codename for Pixel 4a "Sunfish" was spotted in February.
"At a hardware team all-hands meeting in the fall, ahead of the October launch in New York, [Google head of hardware Rick] Osterloh informed staff about his own misgivings", the report notes. The Pixel 4a could do the same in 2020.
