The NBA, NBPA and ESPN are reportedly close to finalizing a H-O-R-S-E competition that will feature current and past players from the NBA and WNBA, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. The league announced Thursday that it will hold a HORSE competition featuring current National Basketball Association and WNBA players, as well as a few legends.

It's been almost a month since the NBA suspended its season because of the coronavirus pandemic, and while the league has offered plenty of avenues to watch historic and archived games, there's still a significant void for many basketball fans.

A coin toss will determine who shoots first, with the more senior player calling heads or tails. If a player is unable to match a made shot, then he/she will receive a letter. To win a matchup, participants have to call the shot they will attempt.

Atlanta Hawks guard and 2004 NBA Finals MVP Chancey Billups will meet in the first round of the tournament.

ESPN will broadcast all games, starting with the opening round on Sunday.

All first-round matchups will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. ET on ESPN, with the semifinals and championship happening April 16 from 9 to 11 p.m. ET on ESPN.

ESPN is scheduled to air the four quarterfinal games on Sunday long with the semifinals and championship following on April 16 beginning at 9:00 pm ET.

State Farm, the competition's sponsor, will donate over $200,000 to charities focused on coronavirus response efforts on behalf of the eight competitors.
