Trump won't unveil Obama White House portrait after pushing baseless conspiracy theory

A decades old presidential tradition may hit the brakes in 2020 owing to a bitter divide between U.S. President Donald Trump and his predecessor, Barack Obama.

However, as a result of recent developments regarding the Obama administration, in which Trump has accused his predecessor of being involved in a scheme to interfere with the FBI's investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, it's possible the tradition won't exactly be continuing at the present time.

In recent weeks, Trump has started circulating a conspiracy called "Obamagate" which charges the former U.S. president with unspecified crimes.

Barr's actions in cases handed off by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's Russian Federation probe and "packing" senior supervisory positions with close associates "seriously undermines the USA attorney's office in D.C.'s. long-standing reputation for independence from political influence", said Charles R. Work, a former office prosecutor, Republican Justice Department political appointee and president of the D.C. Bar, told the Post.

Barr, speaking Monday at an unrelated news conference and responding to a question about Trump's allegations, insisted the Justice Department would not be swayed by political pressure to investigate the president's opponents and that the "criminal justice system will not be used for partisan political ends".

Apple unveils plans to reopen some United States stores
Initial openings of select stores will happen in Idaho, South Carolina, Alabama and Alaska, with precautions to avoid crowding. Apple are now recommending that people order online for delivery or in-store pickup to limit personal contact.

An administration official said there have been some discussions between the White House and Obama's team to hang the portrait but no date was ever officially scheduled. The list showed requests from Biden and other senior Obama administration officials to disclose to them the identity of an American whose name had been concealed in intelligence reports documenting surveillance of foreign targets. "We have not seen a situation like that in history", presidential historian Michael Beschloss told NBC News.

Obama has usually avoided taking swipes at Trump but the accusations over the past several weeks seem to have forced him to say something. This comes after Grenell on May 13 released a list of 39 Obama administration officials who submitted requests to unmask the identity of Flynn from November 8, 2016, to January 31, 2017.

Yet Barr also has criticized Trump at times and sought to distance himself from the president. "We may have our differences politically, but the presidency transcends those differences", when he unveiled George W. Bush's portrait in 2012. It's part of the reason why the response to this global crisis has been so anemic and spotty.

The facts have not stopped Trump from alleging that Obama's administration was "one of the most corrupt and incompetent in USA history". "They know me. They know my faults, they know my talents", he said. "A lot of them aren't even pretending to be in charge".

"For people like me who really feel how he is the first African-American president, we don't really want him there". That's why folks with power will keep trying to divide you over the means.
